The purpose of studying nursing staff is to give unskilled people with a long work experience in nursing jobs the opportunity to obtain nursing professional qualifications. The program was established in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Multidisciplinary School of Education for Medical Staff and the Icelandic Medical Association.
Admission requirements for the program are:
That the applicant has reached the age of 23 and has a minimum of 5 years of work experience in caring for the elderly, sick or disabled, is employed in such care and has a recommendation from his / her employers. In addition, applicants must have completed work-related courses organized by trade unions, municipalities or other parties for a minimum of 230-260 hours. Applicants who have completed certain courses or studies in upper secondary school can receive them as equivalent courses. Those who qualify for the following conditions must complete a minimum of 146 credits of specialty nursing.
It is taught three days a week from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
